Cablevision had bid $1 to take over the newspaper.

The Daily News once had millions of readers, but readership and profits have dramatically declined in recent years, The New York Times reported.

Other bidders, including the owner of Washington D.C.’s The Hill newspaper, are still possibly interested in bidding for ownership of the Daily News, according to The New York Times.
