“It’s the same space, but it’s been completely renovated,” said Iannitti. “It’s got new lighting and we expanded the work area. It’s been cleaned and painted and we used lots of elbow grease.
“We called it Nest because a nest is your home, it’s a beautiful symbol of life, where all things begin. It’s part of nature.”
Iannitti owned the Evergreen Flower Shop in Dobbs Ferry for about 15 years. Afterwards, she worked as a designer for Bloomingdale’s in White Plains and Lillian August in Danbury.
“But floral design is my first love,” she explained, so she went back to work at Olde Thyme and finally ended up buying the shop.
“Now it’s a boutique flower shop,” she said, “with the highest quality flowers, very upscale. Ten steps above the average supermarket.”
Her partner, Delizio, is new to the field of flowers. “I’ve got a corporate background,” she said, “but flowers are my new love and passion. When I saw Maryann’s work and her work ethic, I decided we’d be a really good match.”
In addition to selling fresh cut flowers and floral arrangements, Nest will specialize in garden decor and home decor, and sell related merchandise.
Nest Floral Design at 366 Route 202, Somers, is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Delivery service is available to all neighboring towns.
