RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Dorothy Heil, 87, died Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Golden Hill Nursing Home in Kingston.
Heil was a member of the Good Shepherd Church and volunteered for many years at Ferncliff Nursing Home and the Lutheran Braille Group.
Born March 12, 1928, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Ziemski) Anspake. She was predeceased Dec. 8, 1993 by her husband Carl Rene Heil, whom she married April 24, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church, Astoria.
She is survived by by her son Corrie Heil of Rhinebeck; her daughter Christine Ferrari of Florida; three grandchildren, Patrick, Kevin and Michael; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Thornton and Carol Izzo; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St.., Rhinebeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
