First Selectman Lynne Vanderslice consulted with Turner Construction along with Chris Burney, Wilton's director of facilities and energy management, after receiving more than 140 e-mails from concerned parents, the Wilton Bulletin reported.

Miller-Driscoll Building Committee members criticized how the decision was made without their input, said the Wilton Bulletin.

Burley maintained the removal process is safe, but heeding parental concerns was the right thing to do, reported the Wilton Bulletin.
