Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is a 234-acre property consisting of woodlands, open grass meadows and formal gardens. The park is home to several inspirational memorials and a museum honoring Westchester veterans.
The following is the schedule of horticulture events at Lasdon in June:
- All About Herbs – Friday, June 6, 10:30 a.m.-noon. A hands-on class to learn about herbs, and how to transplant and care for them until planting out. Fee $15; pre-registration required at 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
- The Hypertufa Pot – Saturday, June 7, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Learn how to make this unusual pot. Fee $15; pre-registration required at 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
- Tour of the Main House – Sunday, June 8, 2 p.m. Learn the history of the park during a tour with the horticulturist. Meet at the Shop at Lasdon. Reservations required at 864-7264.
- Children’s Adventures in Horticulture – Friday, June 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Also June 27. Introduce your child or grandchild to the joy of gardening. Fee $10 per adult; pre-registration required at 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
- Miniature Terrarium Workshop – Friday, June 20, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Create your own mini-tropical paradise. Fee $15; pre-registration required at 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
