Pennsylvania Motorist, 80, Killed After Striking Tree In South Jersey

A Pennsylvania man was killed in a single-vehicle crash along Route 55 in Cumberland County, authorities said.

William Kane, 80, of Mechanicsville, was driving north near milepost 21.4 in Maurice River Township when his car left the highway near Schooner Landing Road at about 7:40 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police.

The car traveled off Route 55 to the right and hit a tree, police said. Kane died of his injuries, they said. 

There were no passengers in his car.

The crash remains under investigation.
