Camp Morty, at Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem, serves unprivileged boys and girls with a majority living in foster care.

County Executive Robert P. Astorino presented the awards July 17 and thanked the county’s departments of Parks, Social Services and Community Mental Health, in addition to Friends of Westchester County Parks for their hard work and dedication to making the camp a successful program.

“Camp Morty gives hundreds of children a valuable outdoor and educational experience each summer at the county’s beautiful Mountain Lakes Park,” said Astorino. “The children get to enjoy typical camp activities, such as swimming, boating, hiking, arts and crafts, camping, and nature study, many of which are life-changing experiences.”

Since 2008 Camp Morty has provided more than 2,000 underprivileged children with a valuable camp experience close to home, while keeping all camp funding within Westchester County.

Friends of Westchester County Parks also announced they were awarded a $10,000 gift from Hudson Valley Bank that will go toward funding Camp Morty.
