SOMERS, N.Y. – International music, outdoor activities and autumn celebrations are among the events planned in the Somers area this weekend.
Saturday, Sept. 29
Two-Day SAT Boot Camp: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Learn how to identify types of questions, including tricky ones, on the SAT from Catalyst Tutoring, specialists in SAT preparation. Family Fun Day: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your family and friends to this fun-filled day, featuring a bounce house, face painting, raffles, games, an auction, food and entertainment. It’s at the Westchester Exceptional Children’s School, 520 Route 22, Purdys.
Hao Bang Ya, Dragon!: 1-3 p.m. The Hammond Museum is celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with scenes from Chinese Opera, face painting and lantern decorating for kids, as well as a medley of Chinese snacks. The cost is $25 for a family up to four, $5 for each additional person. The Hammond Museum is at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem.
Purdys Central High School Reunion Weekend: The weekend kicks off at 1 p.m., with self-guided tours around the old schoolhouse. A buffet dinner and social starts at 6 p.m. at the Danbury Ethan Allen Hotel. The weekend festivities continue Sunday with an afternoon buffet and social at the Two Steps Downtown Grille in Danbury, from 2-6 p.m. Tickets are $60 for Saturday (cash bar), $25 for Sunday (cash bar) and $85 for both days. Sunday, Sept. 30
Voter Registration: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Somers League of Women Voters will hold a voter registration day at Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.
5K Trail Run: Registration starts at 8 a.m. The Somers Library Foundation is sponsoring a 5K race for all family members, across the trails and fields of Reis Park, the Van Tassel Memorial Park, Primrose Elementary School and Somers High School. The entry fee for the 5K run is $20. The 1-mile fun run for Adults is $15; $10 for children ages 12 and under. The 5K race begins at 9 a.m., the 1-mile run at 9:30 a.m. There will be free T-shirts for the first 100 registrants and awards for the top three finishers in each age group. Farmers' Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers' Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.
An Old-Fashioned Halloween: 1-3 p.m. Create your own traditional Halloween decorations under the guidance of Muscoot personnel. Materials will be supplied. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.
Blessing of the Animals: 2:30 p.m. Animals and their human caregivers will congregate at Firemen’s Field on Route 202 and proceed at 2:30 p.m. in a joyful parade to St. Luke’s Church, 331 Route 100, Somers, for an ecumenical blessing of the animals, beginning at 2:45 p.m. All animals are welcome.

An Afternoon with Irving Berlin: 3 p.m. Soprano Joanne Kant and mezzo soprano Wanda Grochowski will team with pianist Justine Macurdy as a group called “The Two of Us Plus One,” to perform favorites from Irving Berlin.
