Friday, Jan. 4

Fundamentals of Charcoal Drawing: 12:30 p.m. Artist Mark Cassata will teach a four-week workshop for adults about creating art with charcoal. Future classes will be Jan. 11, 18 and 25. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Somers. To register, call (914) 232-5717. You will receive a list of required supplies.

DJ Dance Night at Traditions 118: 10 p.m. Go to dinner at Traditions and stay for the music and dancing, or just drop in later for dance night. Reservations are suggested but not required. There is no cover charge. Check out Traditions’ menu on the website. The address is 11 Old Tomahawk St., Granite Springs.

Zumba: 9:30 a.m. Party yourself into shape at a Zumba fitness class. It’s only $5 per class and there is no contract commitment. For more information, call Donna at (914) 523-2893 or go to the website. Classes are at the Somers Community Center, 34 Hillandale Drive, Shenorock.

Beaks & Feet, What Do They Eat? 1 to 3 p.m. Learn which birds must fly south for the winter and which can endure a Northern climate. Learn while you make a feeder for the year-round residents. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Winter Art Classes: Classes begin Jan. 22 for six-week sessions in drawing, painting, pottery, and photography for all levels of adults and for children ages 6 and up. Registration is now open. It’s sponsored by the Putnam Arts Council, at the Belle Levine Art Center, 521 Kennicut Hill Road, Mahopac. For more information, go to the website or call (845) 803-8622.
