SOMERS, N.Y. – Lots of musical events in the Somers area will keep you busy during the chilly winter days.

Friday, Jan. 25

Fundamentals of Charcoal Drawing: 12:30 p.m. Artist Mark Cassata is teaching a four-week workshop for adults at the Somers Library about creating art with charcoal. This is the final class. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Somers. To register, call (914) 232-5717. You will receive a list of required supplies.

SEF Annual Variety Show: 7 p.m. The Somers Education Foundation presents its annual variety show featuring talent from Primrose and SIS. Reserve tickets online at www.sefny.org. Additional door sales will be based on availability. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children/seniors. The show takes place in the Somers Middle School auditorium, 250 Route 202, Somers.

Spanish Wine Tasting: 5 to 8 p.m. The Front Street Cellar is holding a Spanish wine tasting at 3 Front St. in the old Croton Falls Train Station.

A Tribute to Elvis: Traditions 118 presents the Michael Vegas Show, featuring the music and mannerisms of The King. The event includes dinner and the show and reservations are required. For more information, call (914) 248-7200. Traditions 118 is at 11 Old Tomahawk St., Granite Springs.

Patricia Adams: 6:30 p.m. Somers’ own jazz performer, Patricia Adams, will make a rare local appearance at Mamma Rosa Ristorante, 252 Route 100, Somers. For more information, call (914) 232-8080.

Rock Star Concert: Rock Star Fantasy Show: 7:30 p.m. The show features student bands WTF and Rhetorical Countdown with special guest appearances. Proceeds benefit The Jack Baumler/Michael Robson Family Relief Fund. The suggested donation is $5. It takes place in the North Salem Middle/High School auditorium at 230 June Road.

Saturday, Jan. 26

Tote Basket Workshop: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spend a cloudy winter day learning to weave a basket under the guidance of the Westchester Area Basketmakers Guild’s Mary Ann Williams. The fee for materials is $25. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Zumba: 9:30 a.m. Party yourself into shape at a Zumba fitness class. It’s only $5 per class and there is no contract commitment. For more information, call Donna at (914) 523-2893 or go to the website. Classes are at the Somers Community Center, 34 Hillandale Drive, Shenorock. 

Live Music on Lovell Street: 9 p.m. Dueling Pianos perform at the Lovell Street Grill and Alehouse, 152 Route 202, Lincolndale.

Butter Churning: 1-3 p.m. Try your hand at making butter with an antique butter-churner and learn how to make butter at home with a more modern method. It’s at Muscoot Farm, Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Gardening Under Lights: 2 p.m. Find out how to grow beautiful flowering plants by using artificial lights. Learn about the different types of plant lights and how the light spectrum affects flowering. It’s at Lasdon Park and Arboretum, Route 35, Somers.
