Monday, Aug. 6

Watercolor Society Reception: 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Northern Westchester Watercolor Society will host a reception for its exhibit of watercolor paintings on display at Somers Library for the month of August. Paintings are available for sale. The Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Reis Park.

PJ Storytime: 7 to 7:30 p.m.  Take your shower, brush your teeth, hop into your summer pajamas and head for the library to listen to a bedtime story read by Doris Jane Smith. All ages are welcome. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

“Big Dreams” Writing Workshop: 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Listen to stories about real people who followed their dreams, then write your own story about your big dreams. The program, led by author/teacher Kim Kovach, is geared to children between the ages of eight and 12. Call (914) 232-5717 to register. The event is at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Reis Park.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

Art Workshop for Adults: 10 a.m. to noon. This is the fifth week of an eight-week program about pop-up books and how to make them. The course, which is funded by a grant from Creative Aging in New York State Libraries, is limited to adults 55 and older. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Read to Sammy: 3 to 5 p.m. Sammy the Therapy Dog will be all ears as he listens to children reading their favorite stories. Call ahead to reserve a time slot. The number is (914) 232-5717. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Children’s Drama Workshop: 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. The last in a five-part series, this program covers the basics of stage acting and communication skills and is geared to children between the ages of seven and ten. Meeting of the Somers Library Board: 7:30 p.m. The Library Board will meet in the library, 82 Primrose St., Somers.

Meeting of the Somers Planning Board: 7:30 p.m. The Planning Board will meet at the Somers Town House, 335 Route 202, Somers.

Thursday, Aug. 9

Drop-In Crafts at the Library: Drop in to the Somers Library any time of day and spend a few enjoyable minutes creating a craft. Children of all ages are invited. No registration is necessary. The Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Reis Park.

Drug Crisis Forum: 7 to 8:30 p.m. A community action forum, organized by local families who have lost loved ones to drug addiction, will take place at the Mahopac Library, 668 Route 6, Mahopac. Click here for more information.

Meeting of the Somers Town Board: 7:30 p.m. The Town Board will hold a combined work session and regular session at the Town House, 335 Route 202, Somers.
