SOMERS, N.Y. –  It's a musical weekend in Somers with a Woody Guthrie Hootenanny Saturday and a Norm Hathaway Big Band performance Sunday.

Friday, July 6

“King Fu Panda”: 3:15-4:45 p.m. While Po works in his family’s noodle shop, he dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master. Suitable for children of all ages, this free movie is rated PG and includes sequences of martial arts action. It’s at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Saturday, July 7

John Jay Farmers' Market: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local farmers, bakers and craftsmen will offer a variety of produce, meats, fish, dairy products, baked goods and handcrafts at this farmers' market on the lawn of the historic John Jay Homestead. Click here for a list of vendors. The market, which will continue every Saturday through Oct. 15, is at 400 Jay St., Katonah.

Wright-Reis Homestead: Tours of the homestead in Reis Park are available by appointment only during July and August. For more information, call the Somers Historical Society at (914) 277-4977.

Beaded Earrings: 1-2:45 p.m. Young adults can learn to make beaded earrings for themselves and extra sets to donate to local women’s shelters. The program is intended for children from sixth to 12th grades. There is no charge. Register by calling (914) 232-5717 or online at www.SomersLibrary.org . The library is at 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

Woody Guthrie Hootenanny: 6 p.m. Somers native band Scott Urgola & Friends will star at the 10th annual Woody Guthrie Hootenanny, sponsored by the Somers Historical Society. Come to listen, sing along, or even bring your own instrument. It’s at the historic Mt. Zion Church on Primrose Street in Reis Park, Somers.

Sunday, July 8

Muscoot Farmers' Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers' Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Walking Tour of the Lasdon Memorial Garden: 2-3 p.m. Join the Lasdon horticulturalist for a walk through a fragrance garden, shrub border and a formal garden. Lasdon Park and Arboretum is on Route 35 in Somers.

The Norm Hathaway Big Band: 6-8 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and listen to big band hits from Benny Goodman, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and more. The Norm Hathaway Big Band was formed “to bring back the way we were.” The free concert will be in Bailey Park at the intersection of routes 100 and 202 in Somers.
