What’s Happening In Somers This Weekend

SOMERS, N.Y. – Stephanie's annual softball tournament and an artist's reception are among the events in Somers this weekend.

Friday, July 13

Antique Evaluation Road Show: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bonham Auctioneers, international appraisers, will examine and evaluate valuable possessions and try to identify date of manufacture, designer or artist, and potential value. Categories include Asian art, silver, paintings, books and prints, furniture, decorative arts and jewelry. The fee is three appraisals for $25, including a $5 admission fee for nonmembers. Free Summertime Movies: 3:15 to 5 p.m. This week it’s “Ratatouille,” rated G, the story of a rat named Remy who aspires to becoming a great chef. Program Room, Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Reis Park.

Artist’s Reception: 1 to 3 p.m Botanical artist Barbara M. Smith will exhibit a collection of nature paintings at the Somers Library Art Gallery in July. Join the artist at the opening reception in the Program Room, Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Reis Park.

Sunday, July 15

Angle Fly Preserve Volunteer Day: 10 a.m. There is never an idle moment at Somers’ Angle Fly Preserve. All volunteers are welcome to come and make the preserve an even better place. Bring your own gloves and water and meet at the main entrance to the preserve on Primrose Street in Somers.

Muscoot Wildflower Walk: 10 a.m. Join Carol Gracie, author of Wildflowers in the Field and Forest: A Guide to the Northeastern United States, on a walk to see the wildflowers in bloom at this time of year. Admission and parking are free. Meet at the Muscoot Farm reception center on Route 100 in Somers.

Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans will be available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. It’s on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Family Fun Day & Softball Tournament: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s the third annual Stephanie Crispinelli Day of Fun to support Stephanie’s Mission, a humanitarian organization that raises funds for nonprofit U.S.-based charities. The day will feature barbecues, raffles, a live DJ, activities for the kids and Stephanie's annual softball tournament. All donations are tax deductible.
