Putnam County 4-H Fair Marks 46th Year, Here's What You'll Find

Summertime is the perfect opportunity to spend a weekend taking in a little of the "country" life with a visit to the 46th annual Putnam County 4-H Fair at Putnam Veterans Memorial Park July 28 to July 30.

The three-day affair offers a little of everything including talented local musicians (amateur and professional), and dancers, games, crafts and animal exhibits.

But the best part of any 4-H event is watching who wins the coveted ribbon in numerous events. Everyone is invited to enter their photography, quilt, baked goods, great vegetables and crafts for displaying in the big exhibit building. You don't have to be a member of 4-H to enter.

Visitors will also want to stop by the Master Gardener Plant Sale to check out the colorful display of perennials, annuals, trees, and shrubs for sale. Master gardeners will also be on hand to answer gardening questions.

A large draw of the fair each year is the Country Auction at 2 p.m. where fairgoers bid to win tools, paintings, tickets to shows, patio furniture and more.

Other highlights include Tony's World of Science and Magic, Touch a Truck, pet shows, food, face painting, games, Civil War and Revolutionary War encampments, Putnam history, horse demos, country pig roast & chicken barbecue, fishing contest and more.

Hours are:

  • Friday, July 28, noon to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 29, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 30, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission and parking are free. The park is located at 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Carmel.
