SOMERS, N.Y. -- Twenty-three houses participated in the first-ever "Illuminate Somers" contest run by The Somers Lions Club , but only three could be winners.
The results, posted late in the day on Friday, were 16 Flower Drive for first prize (and $300), 30 Sunderland Lane for second ($100), and 182 Tomahawk St. ($50) for third. the "Community Choice" prize award (a plaque) was also awarded to 30 Sunderland Lane.
The voting included input from more than 500 community tallies, along with a panel of judges that made their decisions based on five criteria: "most illuminated," "most traditional," "most original, "most holiday spirited," and "most use of objects."
"We will definitely do this again," said Lions President Herb Reimann, who said everyone had a lot of fun.
