SOMERS, N.Y. – Somers Manor Nursing Home is one of many health care facilities that will partner with the Alzheimer’s Association Sept. 29 in its annual "Walk To End Alzheimer’s" event in White Plains.
The walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association has mobilized millions to walk against this devastating disease.
Somers Manor Nursing Home is helping sponsor the event and has organized a team that will walk on behalf of its residents, families and friends. With the only secure Alzheimer’s unit in Westchester County, Somers Manor provides clinical services in Alzheimer’s care with its focus on service, quality and satisfaction.
The walk will be at White Plains High School, 550 North St., in White Plains (Bryant Avenue Entrance). Registration begins at 9 a.m., opening ceremony at 10 a.m., and the 3-mile walk begins at 10:15 am. The walk’s end features some fun activities and a penny raffle.
Somers Manor has a team page, located at www.westchesterwalk.org. Somers Manor invites people to walk with them and join in the support of the community. People who are unable to participate can help by making a donation in support of the effort.
