SOMERS, N.Y. Anthony B. Cammarata, a recent resident of Somers, died May 23 after a brief illness. He was 89.
Formerly of the Bronx, N.Y., Cammarata was a resident of Heritage Hills in Somers for three years.
He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in New York City to Mary and Leoluca Cammarata. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45, fighting in the European Theater during World War II.
After the war, Cammarata spent most of his career working as a maintenance supervisor at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons in Manhattan. He is remembered by his family for his love of God, country and family.
He was predeceased by a brother, Ben; and four sisters, Jenny, Nancy, Betty and Madeline. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Millie; two sons, Jim (Mary Ellen) Cammarata, of the Bronx, and Anthony (Carolyn) Cammarata of Thornwood; a daughter, Lisa (Jon) Ross, of Somers; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Yorktown Funeral Home . A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights, followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
