SOMERS, N.Y. -- A Westchester couple got the best Christmas present they could've hoped for Thursday.

Lindsay Baker of Somers and boyfriend Jonathon Daniels of Peekskill (both Somers High grads) are huge country music fans, and had tickets to see country star Blake Shelton in September. The tickets were to celebrate Lindsay's 23rd birthday.

A week prior to the concert, Daniels was badly injured in a motorcycle accident, and suffered two collapsed lungs, one punctured lung, brain bleeding, a lacerated liver, kidney, and spleen, as well as injuries to his neck, back and shoulders.

Daniels spent 15 days in the hospital, and after he got back home he wrote a heartfelt letter to Shelton explaining the situation and pleading for the star to give them another shot at making Lindsay's birthday present a special one.

The letter was posted on Facebook, went viral, and Thursday evening, a video appeared on Daniels' Facebook page. It was Shelton, responding with concern for Daniels' full recovery, and a promise of tickets for any upcoming show the couple are able to attend. Oh, and a meeting with the man himself was also mentioned.

"It's just so awesome," Baker told Daily Voice. "We've gotten so much support - from friends, family and Facebook. It's amazing how fast something like that spreads.

"We've got messages from all over the United States," Baker added of response to the Facebook post. "It's been just awesome."

Baker said she was surprised to see Daniels' letter at first. "I was shocked," she said. "It was incredible. I didn't even know, then I saw it on Facebook, and it went viral. ... Just crazy."

Baker added that Daniels is doing very well with his rehab. "He's doing very well," she said. "He's getting better everyday. He's not ready to go back to work quite yet, but he's hoping for sometime early in the new year."

Baker added that meeting Shelton is "more than I was ever hoping for."
