SOMERS, N.Y. - The Somers Womens Club will hold its annual blood drive on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Somers Intermediate School.
In recent weeks, members of the club have been calling past donors to ask if they are ready to pitch in again. Donors under the age of 17 must have a signed parental consent form. You must bring a picture ID along on the day of donation.
The Womens Club blood drive collects whole blood. If you have previously donated blood, you must wait 56 days before you are again eligible. If you have made a double red cell donation, the waiting period is 112 days.
Blood collected during the one-day drive will be distributed to 20 local hospitals, but may travel farther in case of emergency need. Last year the Womens Club collected 90 units of blood. Each blood donation counts as two units.
You can schedule a donation online or call Margie Fleischhauer at 914-715-7864. Walk-ins are also welcome.
