MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Bruce Yablon has been a committed supporter of Northern Westchester Hospital for many years. Sitting on the Board of Trustees for seven years, he currently serves as the Vice Chair. He also chairs the Investment and Pension committee. Additionally, he sits on the Finance and Quality Improvement committees. On Saturday, he will take on one more role: Honoree, as he and his wife Andrea are honored at Northern Westchester Hospital's annual gala.

They will be honored for their numerous volunteer efforts along with Dr. Anita Grover, the hospital’s physician honoree. The event, which will be held at Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco, supports new operating rooms at the hospital.

“I’m very excited,’’ Yablon said. “It wasn’t something I was expecting. Up until this point, I had not been interested in having any publicity. I kind of like staying behind the scenes. But I believe in what we do. I’m thrilled that it’s coming together.”

Yablon said the aspect that impresses him most about Northern Westchester Hospital is its treatment of its patients, and not just the high-quality medical care. “The care here is personalized and focuses on the individual. People tell me all the time they were never treated with more respect than when they were at Northern Westchester Hospital. It’s a phenomenal experience. That’s one of the many things that makes this place great.”

Yablon, who has lived in Chappaqua for 17 years, said it was initially a friend who told him to get involved as a volunteer, and his passion took off from there.

“Basically, we care for the patients like they are our parents,’’ he said. “I ask doctors, 'If your parents needed medical care, where would you send them?' It’s Northern Westchester Hospital – there's no hesitation. For the most part, whatever healthcare needs you have, Northern Westchester Hospital can meet them.”

Yablon, who has a background in finance, also chairs the hospital's Governance Committee and is a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. “The most rewarding thing about supporting Northern Westchester Hospital is that when you give a dollar to the hospital, it goes to providing the highest quality of care for everyone in our community, regardless of their ability to pay,” he said. “We’re proud of the job the administration has done, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
