Somers' Courtney Ineson Wins 'Youth For The Dream' Award

SOMERS, N.Y. – Somers High School senior Courtney Ineson will be honored this week with the “Youth for the Dream” award for outstanding service to her school and the overall community.

“Courtney is an A student at Somers High School where she is also captain of the Somers High School Dance Team,” her mother, Doreen Ineson, wrote in an email to the Daily Voice.

“Courtney is a serious dancer who takes class 5 nights a week and is Captain of the Isadora Duncan Youth Ensemble. She has displayed her love for community service on frequent Midnight Run trips with her church youth group (Katonah Presbyterian,) and in addition to local projects has traveled to Miami to help in poor communities there and also to South Korea to foster international cooperation.”

Ineson will be honored Friday at 7 p.m., at the 37th Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship and Awards Banquet.

The event, hosted by Antioch Baptist Church in Bedford Hills, will be held at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown.

Ineson and other area students will receive awards and scholarships, and the banquet’s keynote speaker will be 2013 National Book Award winner Dr. James McBride.
