Somers Eagle Scout Project On Saturday Involves Cannon Restoration

SOMERS, N.Y. – The family of a Somers Eagle Scout candidate is asking for the community’s help Saturday as volunteers work to reinstall the Howitzer Cannon at the Ivandell Cemetery.

Philip McDermott’s Eagle Scout project requires the excavation of the gravel garden so the restored Howitzer Cannon can be reinstalled near the Veterans Memorial, according to an announcement sent out by the Somers Chamber of Commerce.

The project will take place from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., and volunteers of all ages and genders are welcome.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and shovels if possible, but tools will be made available as needed.

Pizza and refreshments will also be supplied.
