The accreditation, presented by independent accreditor, Providigm, LLC, demonstrates the facility continually is assessing its residents’ quality of life with regard to concerns such as pain, dignity, respect for resident choice and quality of care.

Ongoing concerns, such as the allocation of staff, residents’ weight loss, infections, need for rehabilitation following acute injury or illness and prevention of re-admissions to the hospital, keep all its departments focused on current and potential systems, supplies and outcomes, the accreditor said.

“This accreditation signifies that Somers Manor is committed to continuously improving the care that they provide based on feedback from residents and families,” said Dr. Andrew Kramer, Providigm CEO and international expert on measuring quality of elder care in a prepared statement. “We congratulate Somers Manor on their commitment to improve the quality of life and care given to our elders.”

According to a prepared statement by Dr. Surbhi Agarwal, medical director at Somers Manor: “We are extremely proud of the work our care teams have accomplished to achieve this accreditation. We take quality seriously. We strive to give our residents the quality of life and level of dignity they deserve.”
