Somers Woman To Lead Cancer Support-a-walk

SOMERS, N.Y. – Dana Boulanger of Lincolndale is one of two cancer survivors chosen to be the 2012 Walk Ambassadors, representing the spirit and purpose of Support Connection’s Support-A-Walk. The walk will take place rain or shine Sunday, Oct. 7, at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights.

Boulanger was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. She was 40 and a single parent at the time. Her doctor suggested she contact Support Connection for emotional help. She was so encouraged and assisted by the group during her treatments and afterwards that she found a new career. She became co-publisher of Natural Awakenings Magazine, which focuses on natural approaches to nutrition, fitness, creative expression, personal growth and sustainable living.

Her co-Ambassador, Brenda Maxwell of Fishkill, is a survivor of ovarian cancer and an active fundraiser for Support Connection. She is the winner of this year's Beacon of Light Award, given by the organization for her volunteer work.
