Day Camps: Somers Has it All

Thanks to the dedication and imagination of the Recreation Department, Somers can boast of having one of the best summer camp programs in Westchester. Here are some of the programs scheduled for this year:

The Tot Time Camp

Toddler ready for camp? This is a day camp geared to three and four year olds. The Somers Day Camp 

Here is a camp for Somers residents entering grades K-6. Tusker Trax 

Kids got the wanderlust? This camp was designed for Somers residents entering grades 7-9. Campers will be on the go, visiting various sites throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Location: Van Tassell Park, Primrose StreetDates: Three two-week sessions: June 27-July 8, July 11-July 21, July 25-August 4, Monday-Thursday, approximately 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (times may vary)Contact: Lynn Papa, 914-232-8441

Greg Butler Basketball Camp

Former professional Greg Butler and staff will teach all levels of basketball enthusiasts, ranging in age from kindergarten to 9th grade. Tennis Clinics

Coach Frank Catania and staff will teach the basic rules of tennis, along warm-up techniques and sportsmanship. U.S. Sports Institute Multi-Sports Camp

Here is a chance to get to know 15 different sports, ranging from baseball to cricket, lacrosse, field hockey and more. Campers learn the basics of each sport and get to try them out in a game situation. Sports Institute Sports Squirts Camp

Got a little squirt who wants to be an athlete? This camp introduces children ages 3 to 5 to some of the sports that fascinate us all. Horticulture Camp

On the County level, the Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Horticulture Camp for children ages 6 to 8.
