Diabetic Seizure Causes Driver To Slam Into Pole In Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Somers Fire Department and emergency medical had to cut a driver out of an SUV early Monday after he suffered a diabetic seizure, sending his vehicle slamming into a utility pole on Primrose Street, according to Somers Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief John Mackey.

The driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment,  said Somers Police Lt. Brian Linkletter.

The roadway is currently open, but emergency personnel are waiting for utility workers to replace the pole that was snapped in half, Linkletter added.
