Egg-Price Hike Is Largest In 30 Years

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The price of eggs skyrocketed 20 percent from May to June, the largest one-month jump in price in 30 years.

Some restaurants have pulled eggs from their menu as a result, according to ABC 7 reports.

The jump comes from egg-laying hens suffering from an outbreak of bird flu in the Midwest due to infected goose and duck droppings.

Some 40 million hens have been affected, representing an eighth of the nation's total, ABC 7 reported.
