There have been some noteworthy changes in the leadership of several towns.

Rick Morrissey has taken over for longtime supervisor Mary Beth Murphy in Somers.

Dick Lyman is Pound Ridge's new supervisor.

Robert Greenstein is New Castle's new supervisor. Greenstein said he plans to make town government more transparent.

"You can expect a lot more communication and a lot better collaboration," Greenstein said. "We're going to bring residents into the process at all levels. We're going to keep residents informed."

Greenstein said he is hoping to revamp the town's website and make more meetings more friendly to the public. He also said he wants to work on a Master Plan.

Though Legislator Peter Harckham will no longer be majority leader of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, he said he intends to remain very much involved in county government.

Harckham said he intends to push for legislation to require backup generatorson cell towers.

"It's one of the lessons of Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Irene," Harckham said.

State Sen.Greg Ball said he is looking forward to a 2014 session of the state Legislature and said his top focus is to pass his New York Jobs For Heroes Program, which would create a state contract preference for small businesses in New York State owned by service-connected disabled veterans.

"The next session must be focused on reducing taxes and creating jobs to create a better business climate here in New York State," Ball said.

Ball said he also wants to deliver mandate relief and enable public-private partnerships. "Public-private partnership legislation will enable a new innovative finance model that will open New York State to business, allowing us to maintain our crumbling infrastructure without passing the bill down to taxpayers and ratepayers," Ball said.

Pound Ridge's Richard Gere, who runs a restaurant in Bedford, will have a busy 2014 with two movies set to be released. Gere stars in "Franny" and lends a voice to the animated movie "Henry and Me".
