WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – Heavy wind and rain from Hurricane Sandy will continue through the night across Westchester County, according to the National Weather Service.
The large, dangerous hurricane is expected to make landfall along the southern New Jersey coast early Monday evening. The storm will bring long periods of sustained tropical storm-force winds and will continue to produce historic surge levels along the coast.
High wind and flood warnings are in effect for the entire county until 6 p.m., Tuesday, and a coastal flood warning is in effect for Long Island Sounds and Hudson River shore areas until 3 p.m., Tuesday. High tide will be around 9 p.m., Monday, and 9:06 a.m. again on Tuesday.
