Firefighters were concerned with tankers because access to the lake was nearly impossible, according to MFVFD public information officer Jack Casey.

Mahopac Fire Department units arrived on the scene around 1:30 p.m. and calls for assistance went out to Mahopac, Carmel, Mohegan, FAST Team and Putnam Valley.

With the increasing extent of fire, calls to Croton Falls, Kent, Somers and Yorktown were brought in to cover fire stations for other possible calls, Casey said.

In addition to first on the scene Carmel Police units, Fire Police, TransCare Medics, PC Fire Investigators, PC Bureau of Emergency Services Car -#4 and Mahopac School Transportation supervisors were called in.

Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department Captain Anthony Nistico was initial Incident Commander, and was assisted by Mahopac Chiefs Lena and Nikisher until Mahopac Falls Chief Jeff Boyle arrived and assumed command.  Carmel Fire Department was brought in to set up a "fill station" for the many tankers at the dry hydrant at the end of Baldwin Place Rd.

No people were injured in the fire, but the house is severely damaged. The fire is still under investigation.
