Near Blizzard Conditions Expected In Somers Thursday Night Into Friday

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning on Wednesday, with near blizzard conditions predicted for Westchester County Thursday night into Friday morning.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 4 a.m. on Thursday until Friday at 1 p.m. for the entire Lower Hudson Valley as well as Southern Connecticut.

Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible, with 1-2 inches predicted for Thursday morning, followed by a lull before the most significant snowfall is expected to fall starting Thursday evening and continuing into Friday.

The wind-chill factor will be from around 15 degrees below zero to 5 degrees above zero late Thursday night and into Friday morning, with drifting and blowing snow expected.

Driving conditions are expected to be hazardous, the National Weather Service said, and motorists are urged only to travel in an emergency, and to bring an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle.
