Nyseg Monitoring Storm, Issues Advisory To Customers

With as much as a foot of snow expected to hit the area, bringing wind gusts up to 35 mph, NYSEG is cautioning customers to be prepared before the worst of the latest batch of winter weather comes.

NYSEG issued an alert stating that officials are “monitoring weather forecasts in advance of a storm that’s expected to bring snow and gusty winds Wednesday throughout Thursday across the state specifically in the company’s Brewster and Liberty divisions.”

Officials said that customers should prepare for the possibility of potential service interruptions.

“The company’s storm readiness teams have been tracking the storm, holding planning meetings, readying crews and equipment, mobilizing employees for storm duty, and have nearly 400 additional contractor and mutual assistance tree and line crew personnel ready to help restore service if necessary in the areas predicted to experience the most significant impact including Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties. The company is coordinating preparations with state and local emergency management authorities.”

Snow is expected to reach the region on Wednesday morning, continuing throughout the day, with wind gusts potentially reaching upwards of 35 mph, which bring the potential to bring down trees and utility poles.
