  • A small school bus caught fire Friday morning while traveling south on Interstate 684 near Exit 6 in Goldens Bridge. There were no students on the bus and the driver escaped without injury. The New York State Police and the Goldens Bridge Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, but the bus was completely destroyed by the blaze.
  • The U9 FC Somers Fire soccer team successfully defended its title at the East Fishkill Memorial Day Soccer Tournament on Saturday. The 35th Annual Memorial Day Tournament was held in East Fishkill. The team had to beat Warwick Team Primo, East Fishkill Attack and Beacon SC Bullets. The win for the Somers team gives them two championships in two years.
  • Hundreds of residents learned to avoid coyote incidents from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) biologist Kevin Clarke and Frank Vicente of “Save Wild Dogs.” The two addressed the apparent increase of coyotes in Westchester County Wednesday night in a jam-packed New Castle Community Center, giving two different perspectives on how local residents can best protect their own pets, children and themselves from the wild canine.
