SOMERS, N.Y. - Dr. Richard Becker, who announced his candidacy for the new 18th Congressional district last week, has been heartily endorsed by the Somers Democratic Committee.
Christine Robbins, Chair of the Somers Democrats, said that Becker understands what is needed to get the economy moving again and to get us past Republican obstructionism. She called his knowledge of health care reform encyclopedic and praised his stand against the Republican War on Women.
Robbins said it is absolutely essential to beat Republican incumbent Nan Hayworth in the upcoming election and cited Becker as the only candidate who can do it. She called him a passionate advocate for democratic values, in the arenas of jobs, health care, protecting the middle class and upholding the rights of women.
The upcoming campaign is about standing up to Hayworths multimillion dollar attack machine, Robbins concluded and added that only Dr. Becker has the organizational skills this race is going to take.
