Somers Fireworks Fundraiser Blasts Off

SOMERS, N.Y. – The Town of Somers is already preparing for a fireworks spectacular to climax Independence Day events at Reis Park on Saturday, June 30. The day’s activities will include the fourth annual Lynn Adams Memorial 5K Run, the Lions BBQ, the annual Taste of Somers, tours of the Wright Reis Homestead, SYSO all-star games, children’s games, family games, a water slide, entertainment and music.

Now for the fireworks: Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy announced that last year’s campaign for contributions was so successful that 100 percent of the costs were covered by contributions. Murphy, the town board and all those involved in planning and executing the celebration are aiming to reach the same goal this year.

All contributions will go directly to the Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. Checks may be made out to the Town of Somers, with the notation, “Fireworks.”

All donations will be publicly acknowledged.
