SOMERS, N.Y. – NYSEG is still assessing the storm damage in Somers, and has not provided an estimate on the restoration of power for its 9,087 customers, 8,419 of whom remain without power as of Wednesday afternoon.
“Halloween trick or treating and youth on the streets tonight in Somers is prohibited,” said Town Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy. “Somers has been blessed so far in this storm with no injuries or fatalities. We cannot risk injury to a child.”
For those families who want to participate in Halloween activities, the Danbury Fair mall will be distributing candy on Wednesday between 4-6 p.m.
Somers schools will be closed Thursday.
The Heritage Hills Activity Center is open as an emergency shelter and will remain so indefinitely. The Red Cross has provided about 200 cots, blankets and pillows.
Potable water is available at Amawalk and Granite Springs Fire Houses. You must bring your own containers.
The following roads are closed: • Route 202 and Wilner Road • Route 202 and Lovell Street • Route 118 and Mancini Drive • Route 202 and Lake Road • Lake Road South west of Louis Drive • Lovell Road between Route 202 and Franklin Drive
The following restaurants in Somers are open: Fratelli Pizza, Il Forno, Froggy’s Deli, Sweet Delites and Muscoot Restaurant. In Purdys, The Farmer and the Fish is open, and Bella Ella is open in Croton Falls.
Pumps are open at the Mobil gas station on Route 100 in Somers.
