Somers Sustainability Series to be Held at Library

SOMERS, N.Y. - This fall, in the Program Room of the Somers Library, the Somers Energy and Environment Committee presents a series of energy-related talks.

The first session, entitled Sustainability/Energize Somers, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 22.

GreenSomers explains that their mission is to “provide recommendations to our residents and businesses to save energy and money by adopting energy efficient best practices, increasing use of renewable energy resulting in reduced reliance on fossil fuels.”

As an example, they point out that Somers High School now has a 50kW solar PV system.

Other sessions are scheduled for October 27, November 17 and December 15. The topics will be Food/Gardening, Land Use/Transportation and Waste Management/Recycling.

Everyone is welcome.
