The Week Ahead in Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. - The following is a list of upcoming events this week in Somers.

Monday 

SOMERS LIBRARY:  Kindergarten Book Club 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. Kindergarteners are invited to read and talk about books together with the librarian. Snacks and an activity or craft are included.  

Tuesday 

SOMERS LIBRARY:  Baby Time 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. This program includes songs, finger-plays, and stories for children up to age two with their caregivers.

Pre-School Story Time 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Stories, songs, and a simple craft for children aged four and five will be offered. Caregivers do not need to be present but must remain in the building.

First Grade Book Club 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. Children in first grade are invited to read and talk about books together, have a snack, and do an activity or craft. 

Middle School Book Club 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Middle-schoolers get together to read and discuss books, play games and have fun. New members are always welcome. 

SOMERS TOWN HOUSE: A meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday

SOMERS LIBRARY: Pre-School Story Time 10:30 a.m. -11:15 a.m. Stories, songs, and a simple craft for children aged four and five will be offered. Caregivers do not need to be present but must remain in the building.

Second Grade Book Club 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. Second-graders get together to read a book, have a snack, and do an activity or craft. 

SOMERS TOWN HOUSE: A meeting of the Somers Planning Board will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday

SOMERS LIBRARY: Toddler Story Time 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. This program includes songs, stories and a craft for children aged two and three with their caregivers.

Pre-School Story Time 1p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Stories, songs, and a simple craft for children aged four and five will be offered. Caregivers do not need to be present but must remain in the building.

No Girls Allowed! The Third Grade Book Club for Boys will meet from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. to read books together, have a snack, and play a game or make a craft. Bus transportation is available from SIS, Bus K. Pickup time is 4:45 pm. This event is for third-grade boys only. Please give a 24-hour notice of cancellation so others on the waiting list can attend.

Adult Program: Freshen Up Your Resume 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Learn about the latest trends in resume writing and find ways to make your resume unique and market your personal brand. Bring along your resume. The presenter is Laura Olert of CareerWorks Inc. There are openings at this time but please give a 24-hour notice of cancellation to make space for those on the waiting list.

SOMERS HIGH SCHOOL: A Special Education Parent Teachers Association (SEPTA) meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. will offer coffee and conversation with Anna Maggio and chairs of the Committee on Special Education.

SOMERS TOWN HOUSE: The Town Board work session meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL: The JFK Drama Club will present Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes.” Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students. Call 914-232-5061 Ext. 226 or write to AnythingGoes@KennedyCatholic.org

SCHOOLHOUSE THEATER: It’s the premiere performance of JP Miller’s “The Days of Wine and Roses.” Tickets are $33 and can be ordered by phone at 914-277-8477 or online. The play will be performed Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (matinee) through March 25. Sunday matinees are followed by talk back sessions with guest celebrities.

MUSCOOT FARM: Registration begins for Muscoot Wranglers, a one-week Pre-K camp in July where children ages 4 and 5 enjoy a hands-on experience with farm animals. Click here for more information.
