The station is currently vacant. It was previously occupied by Mark’s Time, which closed after its owner died, according to Bedford Supervisor Chris Burdick, who spoke recently about the property.
The leasing for the train station property has several layers, however. It is owned by an entity called Midtown Trackage Ventures, which leases it to the MTA, according to Burdick,. The town, in turn, has a sub-lease with the MTA. Burdick calls a deal for an occupant a “sub-sublease.”
The town’s agreement with the MTA expires in May 2015, according to the RFP, which adds that there are negotiations for a possible long-term lease of 25 or more years.
The RFP includes benefiting the Bedford Hills hamlet and maintaining passenger station use at the building as objectives.
The Town Board could potentially make an award on Oct. 3, according to the RFP.
