Wake Held For Somers' Alex Bergman

SOMERS, N.Y. – A steady stream of mourners passed in and out of Katonah’s Clark Associates Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, paying their respects to the family of Alex Bergman, who died last weekend in a swimming pool accident in Ridgefield, Conn.

Bergman, 23, was a 2007 graduate of North Salem High School, where he played lacrosse and football and was a National Merit Scholar. He attended Boston College and was working as a pharmacy technician when he drowned.

He was fondly remembered by North Salem school chums, college classmates, Somers neighbors, fellow Boy Scouts and the children he supervised as a counselor at Somers’ Summer Trails Day Camp and Camp Kiwi.

The wake at Clark Associates will continue Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The address is 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Route 100 in Somers.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in memory of Alex and his beloved dog, Kip, whom the family adopted from Guiding Eyes for the Blind in 1999. Contributions may be sent to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
