You Better Watch Out, You Better Not Cry

SOMERS, N.Y. - Somers is gearing up for the holiday season with a slew of events all on Sunday.

From 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday you can peek into the Wright and Reis houses to see how the holidays were celebrated before World War I.

Santa is taking a break at the Elephant Hotel from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. so if anyone cares to have his/her picture taken with the old chap, why, just drop in. Line up for pictures no later than 4 p.m.

Not on good terms with Santa? Climb up to the third floor and browse around the Somers Historical Society Museum, also from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. On your way downstairs again, pause to admire the Ninth Annual Gingerbread House display on the first floor, open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sorry, no tasting.

There will be music on the front lawn by Rich and Harry Egor from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. along with a sing-a-long with the Somers Girls Scouts starting at 4:30 p.m. and complimentary hot chocolate to keep you warm.

At sundown at 5 p.m. there will be the lighting of the tree on the front lawn. The 2011 Holiday Season will officially be under way.
