Catherine Strauss, 90, Former Owner, Four Gables Restaurant In Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Catherine (Kitty) Strauss of Lake Purdys died Saturday, Aug. 16. She was 90.

Strauss was born Aug. 6, 1924, in the Bronx, to Charles and Marie (Meehan) Ebbecke. She and her husband were the former owners of the Four Gables Restaurant in Somers. She was later employed as a bus driver for the Somers Central School District.

Strauss is survived by her children, William (Maureen), Richard (Karen), James (Antoinette) and Kathryn; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sister, Madeline Mennette. She was predeceased by her husband, Graham.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah. The funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Katonah United Methodist Church, 2 Bedford Road, Katonah. Interment will follow at Ivandell Cemetery, Somers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the ASPCA, the American Cancer Society or Hospice Care.
