SOMERS, N.Y. – Col. John J. Ford, of Somers, died Thursday, April 7. He was 82.
Born in the Bronx, he was the son of Frank and Lillian Ford.
He was a highly decorated retired U.S. Army colonel and served with distinction in the military from 1952-94. He was the husband of Kathleen K. Ford. They shared 59 years of marriage together.
He was the father of Lillian Ford Gaetaniello (Robert), John G. Ford and Joseph Ford (Marinelle); grandfather of Kathleen Gaetaniello, Linda Gaetaniello, Elizabeth Ford, Sean Ford, Ryan Ford and Joseph Ford; and great-grandfather of Jessica Gaetaniello and Nicholas Gaetaniello.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Carmel. A Mass of the Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Carmel. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
