SOMERS, N.Y. - Doris Catherine Atwell, a longtime resident of Somers, died Nov. 21. She was 87.
Atwell was born in 1927, in Newburgh, to James and Dorothy Fitzpatrick. She graduated from White Plains High School in 1945. She worked as an administrative assistant for Maryknoll in Ossining, before retiring in 1992. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Yorktown Heights.
Atwell is survived by her son, Robert J. Atwell, Jr. (Jane); daughters, Susan A. Napoleon (Gil), Ann L. Atwell, Dorothy A. Cassetta (Dominick) and Virginia M. Atwell-Greenwood (James); 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild, Robbie; sister, Barbara Cervi; and two nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Robert; and brother, Jim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at New St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown Heights. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
