Dr. Frank X. Pedlow, 84, Longtime Somers Resident

SOMERS, N.Y. - Frank X. Pedlow, MD, a 44 year resident of Somers, died May 28. He was 84.

Dr. Pedlow was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Brooklyn, son of Harry Joseph Pedlow and Inez (Lynch) Pedlow. He grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. He graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School in 1946 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in 1950. He served in the US Army in 1951 to 1953. He graduated for the University Of Basel School of Medicine, Basel, Switzerland in 1959. He completed an internship at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington DC and completed a residency in Radiology at the Meadowbrook Hospital, East Meadow (now Nassau County Medical Center). 

Dr. Pedlow was one of the founding physicians of Putnam Community Hospital (PCH), currently known as Putnam Hospital Center, as it evolved from the Mahopac Emergency Hospital in 1964.  At PCH he served as chief of the Department of Radiology for 20 years. He was also a founder and senior partner of North County Radiology Associates of Yorktown Heights.

Dr. Pedlow was a member of the community, coaching North Salem Little League baseball for many years, participating in Boy Scout activities and organizing and coaching a Pop Warner Youth Football Team from North Salem.

Dr. Pedlow is survived by his wife, Marie; brother, Leo Pedlow of Boulder, Colo.; children, Frank X. Pedlow Jr., MD. of Boston Ma., Gary J and Carla Pedlow of Greenwich Conn., Joseph M. and Laura Pedlow of London, England, Christopher J. Pedlow and Ingrid Lenihan of Greenwich Conn., Robert M and Christin Pedlow of Charlotte N.C., William M. and Karen M (Pedlow) O’Hara of New York; 12 grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry J. Pedlow, MD. of Pleasantville.

Calling hours are Friday, May 31 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. Joseph's RC Church, 10 Croton Falls Road, Croton Falls. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Somers.
