SOMERS, N.Y. - Elsa Burgos Fernandez of Somers, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, died Wednesday, Aug. 21. She was 83.
Fernandez was the daughter of Temisto Burgos Serrano and Herminia Marrero Cordoba. She was educated in San Juan, worked as a paralegal and a seamstress in the New York fashion industry. She was a member of the ASPIRA organization. She was a member of the Women's Club.
Fernandez is survived by her children, Elsa Konigsberg (Jay) and George Fernandez (Noreen); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, William Burgos; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Julio.
Calling hours are Friday, Aug. 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at St. Patrick's RC Church, Bedford. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters Family Health Service and Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam.
