BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - James P. Lonergan, a longtime resident of Somers, died May 9. He was 84.
Lonergan was born in Lincolndale, N.Y. He and his wife, Rae of Peekskill, N.Y. raised their family in Somers, N.Y. and together founded the James Lonergan Construction Company, building many private homes in the Westchester area. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local Union 1704.
Lonergan is survived by his wife, Margaret Rae; children, Terry (Richard) Hawley of New Preston, Conn, Sharon (Larry) Tobin of Croton Falls, N.Y., Richard (Linda) of Yorktown, N.Y.; sisters, Alice (Michael) Amato of Somers, Patricia Williams of Mahopac, Catherine (Paul) of Stormville, three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Eileen Mulligan of Amawalk.
A funeral service is planned for June 22 at St Joseph's Church in Croton Falls, N.Y. at 11:30 am with a celebration of Lonergan’s life to follow at the School House Theater in Croton Falls, N.Y.
