Joseph Hashmall, 94, Of Somers, World War II Veteran

SOMERS, N.Y. – Joseph Hashmall, 94, of Somers, formerly of Yonkers, died Saturday, April 25.

He was born Jan. 6, 1921, in New York City, to the late Herman and Tillie Hashmall.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Air Force) during World War II, serving as an air traffic controller in France and Iceland.

Hashmall was later employed by Newark Ladder Co., Scaffolding of Great Britain (SGB), and Burrelle's Information Services.

Survivors include one son, Jay (Ellie) Hashmall of Yorktown Heights; and three grandchildren.

His wife, Beatrice; one son, Paul; three sisters, Mary, Dorothy and Lillian; and two brothers, Ben and Frank, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be private.
