Margaret 'Peggy' Volmar, Ex-Somers Tax Receiver, Dies At 87

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Margaret "Peggy" Volmar of Dawsonville, Ga., a former Somers tax receiver, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at her residence after a period of declining health. She was 87.

Born Feb. 23, 1927, in New York to the late John and Katherine Dooley, she had lived in Georgia since 2000.

Volmar retired in 1997 as the tax receiver for the town of Somers, after more than 30 years of service.

Volmar was formerly employed as an executive secretary in New York City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Volmar; son, John Mazzei; and three sisters.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dennis Logan, of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Peter Mazzei, John Jr. and Patty Mazzei, Cariann Mazzei, Olivia Logan, Fraisia Logan and Bellamy Logan; great-grandchildren, Jake Mazzei, Cassidy Mazzei, Jamilee Mazzei, Amanda Mazzei, Dylan Mazzei; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kendall Mazzei.

A memorial Mass was held Saturday Jan. 31, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church by the Rev. Brian Higgins.
