SOMERS, N.Y. -- Rita Yolanda Ance, of Heritage Hills in Somers, died Dec. 26.
She was born March 3, 1928, in Morgantown, W.Va., to the late Antonio and Victoria (Branca) Giordano, the youngest of nine children.
She grew up on Beach Avenue in the Bronx and graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor's in Art History. She taught business education at Carmel High School for more than 20 years.
For much of her life, she was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake.
She is survived by three daughters; Carole and her husband Ken, Julie and her husband Rudi and Barbara; six grandchildren, Kathryne, Madeline, Michael, Melissa, Alexa and Emily; her brother Guy Giordano and his wife Marie; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Ance, six brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers. Interment will follow at St Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster.
